mone - designed and developed

When designing mone, I concentrated on where I want to lay one's eye on. As the photography marks the genesis of the website, a minimalistic design decision was made to highlight my work.

I often aim for this approach. However, I do believe there is a fine line between a good minimalistic design and “the boring”. It can often be seen as “the easy” way, but it requires a lot of consideration, considering the small selection of visible elements. I've curated color palettes and established grids that enhance the power of white space.

My photography has been used all over this website. Some visibly, and others in more subtle ways. Like the background your looking at now has arisen from the flowing layers of an elegant dress, intertwined with the mundane sparkles of sunlight.

Additionally, small animations were created to enhance the experience on the website and emphasise what's there, rather than taking control.

Nowadays we use so many different devices, from all sizes. I want the website to be visually appealing on all formats, while also adapting to the way each device is used. Hovering and exploring works well on desktop, whereas mobile should feel intuitive to navigate with just a thumb. Experimenting with larger formats should never compromise the mobile experience. This is why I design responsively, with a mobile-first approach.
